12th Annual Shootout on Whiskey Row

Location: Mile High Middle School, downtown Prescott

Event Date: Sat Jul 22, 2017 thru Sun Jul 23, 2017

We hope that all of our event participants, guests, members of the public and “just everyone” had as much fun and got as much out of our 12th Annual Shootout on Whiskey Row as the members of the Prescott Regulators & Their Shady Ladies did.  We kept our eyes on the sky (monsoon rains), but we were able to work through the weekend!

It was our privilege to announce our 2017 scholarship program contribution and present our check for $2,500 (up from $2,000 in 2016) to the Yavapai College Foundation who administers this scholarship for us.  We are committed to benefitting our local veterans and their families as they work on their higher education goals.

On Saturday the Prescott Long Riders, a group of about 40 equestrian riders, came through town and right down Whiskey Row flying flags and looking sharp in their blue shirts.  This trail ride was to bring recognition of the National Day of the Cowboy which is part of this 2-day Shootout weekend.

The 2-day re-enactment competition was top notch.  The four participating groups are the “best of the best” and come from Arizona and California.   The results of this competition is as follows:

First Place: The Arizona Ghostriders from Tucson, Arizona

Second Place:  Kitty’s Renegades from Mesa, Arizona

Third Place:  Guns of the Roundtable from Riverside, California

The Paul Narwold People’s Choice Award:  The Oxbow Outfit & the Payson Petticoats from Payson, Arizona

The selection of individuals for awards for acting in the re-enactments was very challenging as there are so many competent, funny, and capable participants.  Here are the 2017 winners:

From The Guns of the Roundtable:  J. J. Webb

                From Kitty’s Renegades:  Terrie Muchmore

From the Arizona Ghostriders:  John Scott

From The Oxbow Outfit:  Dennis Jones

We can’t say enough good things and “thank you’s” to our professional entertainers:  Dr. Buck and the Wild bunch and The Arizona Gunfighters.  These organizations have consistently supported this event and really add to a great weekend.

The participants in the costume contest were decked out in their finest “old west” (late 1800’s) finery.  Watching these individuals always inspires re-enactors to continue to work on their costuming.

Finally, to all of the vendors and other individuals who added such interest to our event we thank you.  This may have been our merchandise vendors, other local nonprofit groups or sponsors who shared their organization’s information and the food vendors who were fabulous.  Our own group also had a terrific raffle booth, water booth and merchandise booth with some great Prescott Regulators merchandise.

Please remember to plan on attending the 13th Annual Shootout on Whiskey Row to be scheduled in July of 2017.  It will always be bigger and better than ever before!
